What is Wellspring?
Wellspring is our ministry for newcomers who want to explore getting more involved at Trinity, are interested in becoming members, or want to explore Christianity and the Lutheran perspective.
You are not alone.
Wellspring is a refreshing place of community in a desert of individualism.
You are valued.
Wellspring is a place to ask questions in a non-threatening environment.
You are a beloved child of God.
Wellspring is an invitation to baptismal living.
Wellspring Q&A
A: Typically each session includes a time sharing joys and concerns in our lives, a discussion of a theme for the day (including prayer, worship, the Bible, and service), a short reflective group bible study, and of course, a snack! It sounds simple, but in this simple structure, God does profound things. Each new member is connected to a faith partner, a current member of Trinity, to take this journey with you.
A: Typically Wellspring consists of 6-8 sessions of about 1.5 hours each. Each cycle is scheduled based on the availability of those participating. At the end of the cycle, those who wish to become members of Trinity are welcomed in worship either by Baptism or Affirmation of Baptism.
A: No. Wellspring is not intended to be an obligation, but a gift. However, we strongly encourage you to consider Wellspring, even if you are transferring from another congregation. It is not just a membership class, but a place where we share our lives together, build a community of love and support, and experience new ways of practicing our faith. It is also a great way to become integrated into the life of the congregation, and not be just another face in the crowd.
If Wellspring is not for you, there are other options for joining Trinity, including transferring your membership from another Christian congregation. If you would like to look into other ways of becoming a member, please talk with Pastor Matt.
A: Great! We are always in need of good faith partners. As a faith partner you are not expected to have all the answers! You are simply committing to being a friend to someone who is new to Trinity, and possibly new to the Christian life. Our hope is that you will attend as many sessions of that cycle of Wellspring as possible, to be present in worship regularly (including at your faith partner’s Baptism or Affirmation of Baptism), and to pray for your faith partner. I guarantee it will be a learning experience for you as well – often, faith partners find they have been impacted by the experience just as much as the new members!
